Kerri Marshall-Edgerly

I was born in Kewaunee, WI and raised in Two Rivers and Manitowoc, WI. Until high school. As a teenager I was interested in photographing nature and was thrilled with my first ‘gift camera’! It was a hobby for me and my goals didn’t include becoming a professional photographer at that time of my life.

I moved to Chicago at 20 and eventually landed a job a a commercial photography studio where I learned to develop film, work on Kodalith slides for presentations, do a little modeling and running errands for the studio in downtown Chicago. I also worked on occasion at a large commercial studio getting items ready to be photographed and buying props for shoots; this job was really fun!

My personal goals changed again at 28 and I moved out to the country in beautiful Southwestern Wisconsin near Richland Center and landed a job at Lou Coopey’s Portrait Studio. There I did office and receptionist work at first and then matting, framing and child photography. Eventually I purchased my first ‘really good’ camera, lenses and flash and started to photograph my relatives. My love for nature photography continued and I started centering on florals similar to Georgia O’Keefe style.

Then someone asked me to photograph their wedding which I didn’t really feel qualified to do, but with much encouragement I said yes and ended up doing weddings for 7 years without ever advertising! I met some wonderful people and had some good times; the time was right to move onto something else, though.

I started a small partime business photographing high school seniors, families, and children and really enjoyed it. Eventually this turned into a full time job with a studio attached to our country home and I am still doing this type of work!

All along I continued to photograph nature and then really go into catching animals “doing their thing”. I started making and selling ‘real photo’ blank greeting cards and ended up with categories including Cats, Dogs, Horses, Misc. Animals, Birds, Barns, Scenery including all four seasons and close-ups of anything that interested me. I also included matted and framed enlargements of my favorites. I am a passionate animal and nature lover and cannot imagine not capturing this on film!!!!!!!!!
